Fake I.D.


The Washington Post reports on Tom MacMaster, a 40 year-old graduate student who fooled the internet into thinking he was a young Syrian-American woman who blogged about Syria’s turmoil while being openly gay. MacMaster had been cultivating his online identity as Amina Arraf for around 5 years, and “her” blog, “A Gay Girl in Damascus,” had gained 48,000 followers on Twitter. MacMaster’s hoax came unraveled after he made a cryptic post last Monday posing as the cousin of the girl he made up

 

 

Miley Cyrus: Happy to Be Done with Twitter

miley-justin-1109-9She was once the queen of Twitter, but ever since Miley Cyrus deactivated her page she says she has more time to do other things… like sleep. The “Party in the USA” songstress told press, “It was 3:30 or 4 in the morning. I couldn’t sleep. [I thought], ‘Maybe I could sleep if I wasn’t so friggin’ busy Twittering about not being able to sleep.’”  And now Miley says she’s not missing the tweets.  “I really haven’t missed it.  I thought I was going to miss it a lot more than I do, but I haven’t even really looked at other people’s, which is really weird. I don’t really miss it. It’s kind of odd.”Instead, Miss Cyrus has been concentrating on other aspects of life, like her acting career.  Last week she was in New York City shooting scenes for the upcoming “Sex and the City 2.” source.
