John C. Calhoun was quite the political maverick (Sarah’s got some mighty big shoes to fill). He served as Vice-President under John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson (badass!), was Secretary of State briefly under John Tyler, and was the Secretary of War (it’s serious business) under James Monroe.
