Golden Globes: You Should Be Ashamed

tl;dr disclaimer: Golden Globes don’t know sh*t about movies. Go figure…

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its nominations for the 68th Golden Globe Awards this morning and there’s just no excuse for some of these picks.

“Burlesque” was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musicals which is a huge shock since the movie was condemned by Yours Truly as skanktanic in Movie Church no less than a week ago. “Burlesque” received such poor critical review and weak box office sales you have to wonder if anyone at the HFPA actually watches movies or just really loves dirty old divas.

Also, “The Tourist” was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musicals even though the movie has nothing to do with either comedy OR music. The universally panned Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp film bombed at the box office yet manages to get a nod for best picture? Boo!

Great job, Golden Globes. You are now officially meaningless.
