Spirit Photography WIN

Some of the earliest proponents of photography were actually scammers. In the pre-photo-manipulation age, many attempted to make a quick buck out of their newly-invented technology by using it to prove the existence of ghosts.

Recreation WIN

This is Stephen Wiltshire, a savant who recreated a sketch of New York city from memory after taking a single twenty-minute helicopter ride over the city. Check out more of his work – and the full version of the image above – at his personal webpage! Submitted by: Unknown

Apollo 11 Customs Declaration

Click the image to see the full-sized version! When Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, (and the decidedly less intrepidly-named) Michael Collins landed off the coast of Hawaii on July 24th, 2009, they were asked to fill out a customs form like any visitor to the United States. Although the paperwork was tongue-in-cheek, the three astronauts were quarantined in a special NASA holding unit for three weeks to prevent Earthly contamination by moon-germs. I’d like to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you” to the astronauts, for agreeing to be locked in what looks like a taco truck for almost a month to protect us from lunar cooties.

3D Street Art WIN

French street artist Shaka has an exhibit opening in Paris, featuring his trippy and amazing art. The pieces have a crazy amount of detail and often have illusory three-dimensional elements. Check out more in the gallery below and in the via link! Submitted by: Unknown Via: Flavorwire
